Beef Stroganoff

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb. boneless round steak ½ inch thick
  • 1 clove garlic, split
  • 3 tbsp. flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper
  • ¼ cup margarine
  • ½ cup finely chopped onions
  • ½ lb. sliced mushrooms
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • ½ pint sour cream
  • chopped parsley, chives or green onions

Instructions:

 Rub steak with split clove of garlic.  Cut meat into thin strips.  Toss meat with flour, salt and pepper. Heat margarine in large skillet with lid.  Brown meat strips and then add mushrooms and onions.  Cook 5 minutes until golden.  Add water and chicken soup, stirring to blend.  Heat to boiling and then reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.  Stir in sour cream just before serving and heat just to boiling point.  Serve over noodles or rice.  Top with parsley, chives or onions.
