Potato and Ham Chowder

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup diced white potatoes
  • 1 12 cup water
  • 12 cup chopped onion
  • 1 12 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 12 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 12 cups milk
  • 34 cup diced ham
  • 34 cup grated sharp cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:
Saute' the onion in butter; add potatoes and water and cook until the potatoes are soft. Beat the flour into milk until smooth and stir into vegetables. Cook stirring constantly, until thickened. Add ham, cheese, salt and pepper, stirring until cheese melts. Serve warm.

Notes:
If you have ham stock, cook the potatoes in it instead of the water.
