Sausge and Bean Chowder

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb. hot bulk sausage
  • 2 (16 oz.) cans kidney beans, (drained)
  • 2 (14 oz.) can stewed tomatoes, (undrained)
  • 2 cups tomato juice (V-8 is fine)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 12 tsp. garlic salt
  • 12 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. thyme
  • 12 tsp. pepper
  • 1 cup whole kernel corn (drained)
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 can black beans (drained)

Instructions:
Brown the sausage and drain off the fat. Combine all the other ingredients except the black beans and simmer 1 hour. Add the black beans and simmer 1/2 hour more. Serves eight.
