Spicy Tomato Soup

Ingredients:
  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, diced
  • 2 cans chicken broth
  • 1 (29 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (29 oz.) can diced tomatoes with juice
  • 2 dashes hot sauce
  • 14 cup honey
  • 1 tsp. dried dill weed
  • 12 tsp. black pepper
  • 12 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. dried basil

Instructions:
Melt butter and saute' onion and garlic for a few minutes. Add the flour and stir until very smooth. Cook over low heat and gradually add the chicken stock. When all the stock is added then add the tomato sauce, stirring well and allowing the mixture to thicken. When thickened, add the tomatoes and all the seasonings. Allow to simmer over low heat for about 45 minutes so that the flavors will blend. Stir frequently as the soup will stick to the bottom of the pot. Garnish with croutons.
