Stew Beef or Pot Roast
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds of beef stew or chuck roast
- 2 tbsp. butter or margarine
- 4 cups boiling water
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. worchestershire sauce
- 1 clove garlic (optional)
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tbsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- ½ tsp. paprika
- dash allspice
- ½ tsp. pepper
- 1 onion
- carrots
- potatoes
Instructions: Brown meat in margarine with all other ingredients except carrots and potatoes. Cover and simmer 2 hours; stir occasionally to keep from sticking. Remove bay leaf and garlic. Add vegetables and simmer 30 more minutes. Make paste and thicken gravy.
